Friendship Inn KC, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing a "home away from home" for out-of-town patients, and/or their loved ones, who are receiving medical treatment at hospitals in the Kansas City area, by providing temporary lodging, kitchen facilities and staff trained to provide emotional support.
Since opening in May, 2001, Friendship Inn KC has provided lodging for more than 800 guests, with priority lodging given to those who live more than 40 miles away. Its goal is to establish similar "home away from home" facilities for families of patients at every major hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
Friendship Inn KC has been a member of the the National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses Inc. since 1995. NAHHH, located in Ashville, N.C., is a national organization that provides a resource center, consultation services, a National Referral Directory and a networking system for hospitality houses across the nation.
